Dear colleagues
Just a brief reminder of the early registration deadline, 16 July 2010!
This promises to be the largest scientific congress ever dedicated to geriatric medicine in Europe, with over 540 abstracts received, and over 1,000 delegates expected. There is a vibrant academic programme, including a Core Curriculum track, and a focus on New Challenges, New Techniques and New Technologies with invited and submitted presentations from all over Europe.
In addition, there is an active social programme: the opening session includes presentations from Her Excellency Mary Robinson on Global Ageing, poetry from our Nobel Laureate, Seamus Heaney, and a short concert by the National Symphony Orchestra of the music of Late Life Creativity. Other events include an evening of Irish music and song, a State Reception in Dublin Castle, and a Gala Dinner in Dublin's historic Mansion House. The congress will be rounded off with addresses by John Beard of the WHO and Francoise Forette on the prevention of Alzheimer's disease.
We would love to see as many of you as possible: many are already planning to attend and please do spread the word among your students, trainees, teams and colleagues: early registration closes on July 16: 4 days away!
If you would like a copy of the paper 'What you missed at the 5th EUGMS Congress' to give you a flavour of what you might encounter, please do email me or Marian Hughes marianhughes@ireland.com , and we will send it on to you.
With best wishes
